Connecting your Nest will entail the following:
- Connecting your phone to the Guest network
- Adding your Nest to the Google Home app
- Finding your Nest's MAC address
- Adding your Nest to the Lionstripe Dashboard
- Adding your phone to the Lionstripe Dashboard
- Connecting your phone to the General network
- Connecting your Nest to the General network
- Connecting your phone back onto the Residents network
Part 1: Connecting your phone to the Guest network
You will use the Guest network just for setting up your Nest, once it's setup you will forget the Guest network and connect back to the Residents network.
Step 1: Log in to the Lionstripe Dashboard.
Step 2: Click on Guest Access.
Step 3: Your can scan the QR code, or enter the password for the network [PROPERTY]-Guest.
Step 4: Connect your phone to the [PROPERTY]-Guest network.
Part 2: Adding your Nest to the Google Home app
Before your start, make sure you are within 12 inches (30 cm) of your Nest, with your phone's Bluetooth turned on. If your phone is having trouble connecting to the Nest via Bluetooth, follow this guide.
Step 1: Open the Google Home app .
Step 2: Tap Add Set up device New devices Choose a home.
Step 3: The app will search for devices that you can add. If it doesn't find your thermostat, select it from the list.
Step 4: Remove your Nest from the wall by gently pulling on the enclosure, it should pop off without being damaged.
Step 5: To continue with a QR code: Scan the QR code on the back of your Nest Thermostat display.Tip: If the scan is unsuccessful, you can tap Continue without scanning. Select the thermostat you are setting up and enter the code on the back of the thermostat display.
Step 6: The Home app will walk you through installation. If prompted to select a network, select the [PROPERTY]-Guest network.
Part 3: Finding your Nest's MAC address
Step 1: Open the Google Home app .
Step 2: Tap your device's tile.
Step 3: At the top right, tap Settings Device information.
Step 4: The MAC address should be listed under Technical information. If it’s not, check the device’s Wi-Fi connection.
If you have an older Nest device, follow these steps to find it's MAC address.
Part 4: Adding your Nest to the Lionstripe Dashboard
Now that you have the Nest's MAC address, we will add it to your private home network using the Lionstripe Dashboard. We recommend using your laptop for the next two parts, or another device, and not the one you are using to setup the Ring.
Step 1: Log into the Lionstripe Dashboard using your username and password.
Step 2: Go to the My Devices tab.
Step 3: Click on Add new Device.
Step 4: Enter the device’s MAC address and give the device a name.
- Include only the letters/numbers, do not type in the colons.
- For example, if the mac address is EC:12:A3:ED:6B please enter 12A3ED5B (not case sensitive )
Step 5: Click Submit. You will see a notification that your device has been successfully added.
Make a note of this password, as you will need it when adding the device to your home network.
Part 5: Adding your phone to the Lionstripe Dashboard
Step 1: Find your device’s MAC address. If you have an iPhone click here, and for Android click here.
Step 2: Log into the Lionstripe Dashboard using your username and password.
Step 3: Go to the My Devices tab.
Step 4: Click on Add new Device.
Step 5: Enter the device’s MAC address and give the device a name.
- Include only the letters/numbers, do not type in the colons.

Step 6: Click Submit. You will see a notification that your device has been successfully added.
Part 6: Connecting your phone to the General network
iPhone/iOS devices
Step 1: On the your device, tap on the Settings icon > Wi-Fi > Find the [PROPERTY]-General network. Do not use the Residents network for this step.
Step 2: Tap the "Info" icon
Tip: If you are prompted to enter as password you did not click on the information icon. Just tap cancel and try again.
Step 3: Turn off Private Wi-Fi Address by toggling the radio button.
Step 4: Tap on Join This Network, and enter your password.
Android devices
Step 1: On Android device go to Settings > Wi-Fi > Find the Residents network. You should see the name of your building, followed by a dash and the word Residents like this: [PROPERTY]-General.
Step 2: Enter your password and connect.
Part 7: Connecting your Nest to the General network
Step 1: Open the Google Home App , or the Nest App .
Step 2: Tap Favorites or Devices .
Step 3: Select your thermostat.
Step 4: Tap Settings Device information Wi-Fi.
Step 5: The app will walk you through changing the Wi-Fi network. Select the [PROPERTY]-General network, and connect using the password from the Lionstripe Dashboard in the previous section.
If you have an older Nest device, follow these steps to change it's Wi-Fi network.
Part 8: Connecting your phone back onto the Residents network
Once you've finished the setup of your Nest, make sure you forget the [PROPERTY]-Guest network, and connect your phone back to the [PROPERTY]-Residents network.
